I am originally from Lexington, MA, birthplace of the American Revolution. I also spent some of my later childhood in Shanghai, China.
I did an awful lot of things during my youth, from competitive video gaming to amateur filmmaking. I also spent a lot of time wandering the woods looking at bugs.
I attended Boston College (which is not actually in Boston, and is not really a College). I graduated in 2021 as a Scholar of the College majoring in History with a minor in Ancient Civilizations.
During my summers as an undergraduate, I developed a taste for archaeology. Unfortunately, Boston College does not have an archaeology program, so I focused on the study of material culture
with the intent to pursue archaeology after graduation. I did summer digs in Rome and in Wexford. I still know how to say, "An bhfuil cead agam dul amach go dtí an leithreas, más é do thoil é?"
I worked as an Archaeological Field Technician in the Greater Toronto Area for a while, before leaving to pursue a graduate degree in England. Now that I had a taste of pro archaeology,
I wanted to develop a speciality, and that speciality turned out to be Digital Archaeology. My MSc work at York centered on the combination of terrestrial laser scanning and structure-from-motion photogrammetry
to create accurate hybridized 3D models of historic space. I had played around with 3D models a lot as part of my high school job (see resume), and that had evolved into a 3D modeling hobby. York's Digital Archaeology team
also had a lot of guest speakers related to intersecting art and archaelogy, and the department head Colleen Morgan has done really interesting work on Second Life.
I also have a love of post-processual, theory-heavy archaeology so I stewed in 3D models and philosophy the whole time I was there.
I officially graduated in 2025, and since then the job market has been... interesting. Who knows where I'll be next?
Some other information about me... I'm a classically trained violist. I've played in symphony orchestras for around ten years, along with a few years of chamber music. I hate playing solo, and I won't touch a violin.
I'd love to learn the harp someday, and I often wish I had the temperament and talent for jazz. I've been on stage at Boston Symphony Hall twice, once with the Lexington High School Symphony Orchestra
and once with the Boston College Symphony Orchestra. The second time, my belt snapped right before we went on stage, so I had to clutch my waist up every time I stood up. I don't remember what we performed. Maybe some Holst?
I've been in the kitchen since I was old enough to understand cause and effect, but I didn't seriously start working on my technique until I was around 16 years old, when I made croissants for the first time.
I would say my favorite cuisines to cook are Cantonese and Persian, but of course I bake in French. I'll eat almost anything, including the things I'm allergic to.
